Praetorian Construction Management is looking for a warehouse and inventory expert for our Edmonton, AB facility.

Job Description:

This position, which may vary depending on specific job assignment, performs random or system-generated cycle counts and quality audits of locations and key warehouse job activities performed during Inbound and Outbound operations while meeting safety, quality, productivity, attendance and behavioral expectations. Effectively and efficiently uses established procedures, tools, equipment (including RF Scanners and material handling equipment) and technologies to complete assigned tasks.

Basic Responsibilities: 

  • Research the history of physical and systemic goods movements within Distribution Center
  • Work with Manhattan Warehouse Management System (WMS) to locate goods within the Distribution Center
  • Ability to perform physical inventory and audit within Manhattan
  • Report daily metrics related to inventory accuracy

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

  • Adheres to all Safe Work Practices (SWP) and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop deep understanding of WMS features and functionality to facilitate analysis, interface with users from the department and IT and resolve issues.
  • Run and create inventory queries in Manhattan.
  • Lead and work on special projects without supervision.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Verify finished goods production in Manhattan WMS. Advise Distribution Team of discrepancies.
  • Verify real-time input of all finished good movements into distribution locations.
  • Analyze and verify all material inventory numbers for accuracy. Review any discrepancies and make all necessary corrections and adjustments.
  • Communicate with Distribution, Production Planning and Finance to ensure proper and accurate flow of paperwork and information.
  • Input all intercompany transfers to Distribution Centers.
  • Analyze and correct any variances in WMS counts.
  • Work with Management, IT, Production and Planning on eliminating inventory variances found through cycle counting.
  • Create and implement new procedures and forms as needed to assist in improving job functions.
  • Cycle count finished product in WMS.
  • Analyze, verify and correct any discrepancies in the transfers of finished goods.
  • Lead and conduct physical inventory in Distribution.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Must have a strong knowledge of AS400 (Manhattan Warehouse Management System (WMS), MS Office specifically Excel and Word
  • Must have 5+ years of experience working in a Distribution Center environment
  • 5+ years of experience with inventory including cycle counts, cycle reviews, evaluations, forecast, etc.
  • Must possess good problem solving skills.
  • Work comfortably around upper Management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Knowledge of logistics and international shipping preferred
  • Work overtime including weekends.
